Free Asset Forfeiture FOIA Forms

I developed this FOIA form many years ago, and it is primarily aimed at contesting PUSH-OFF vehicle seizures. These vehicle seizures were so common back in the day before the Michigan legislature curbed the abusive practice that I would receive at least two calls every week with upwards of a dozen calls. In many instances, Detroit Police parked outside completely legal dispensaries, stopping vehicles without any reason whatsoever and seizing those cars left and right to raise revenue.

Since 2019, Michigan lawmakers have attempted to sharply curtail the Wayne County vehicle seizure program by mandating that a criminal conviction was required before a vehicle was subject to forfeiture. But the abuses continued until the Institute for Justice pursued federal litigation, winning an epic victory in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals

My free forfeiture FOIA form is written broadly to uncover relevant evidence in a forfeiture case. It will help you discover the information you need to contest your asset forfeiture case, but read the form carefully before you submit it. Request only the information pertaining to your case if you utilize my free form.

If needed, you can send this form to multiple police agencies and prosecutors' offices. Feel free to call my office for further assistance, and if they deny you access to the information, I may be willing to file a FOIA lawsuit on your behalf.

About

I am one of Michigan's leading criminal defense attorneys, and I frequently cross over into the realm of civil litigation when my clients face civil asset forfeiture claims. Cash and US currency seizures, car seizures, and even homes and real estate may be subject to Michigan's civil asset forfeiture laws, and I have successfully fought the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, the FBI, the DEA, and US Customs on civil asset forfeiture cases.
